The Daughter

My mother's lover had a giant schlong
I saw it when I peeked under the door
One morning when they wouldn't come out and play
With me, and I was bored, and only six.
He yelled at me for something about forks.
I used the wrong one or forgot to rinse
But forks and yelling — I remember that.
All day they played backgammon and said I
Was too young to play with them — I was six
Although I knew the rules and anyway
It is a game of luck, or so I'm told
Now that I'm more than six, and can discuss

These matters. It was no fun being six.
